Chris yates with record carp from Redmire

I have waited 2 years to get a place on Redmire lake and now finally have a  ticket to fish a late November weekend. I have been reading “Casting at the sun” by Chris Yates in this book he mentions Redmire in 2 chapters of the book and also a chapter is dedicated to catching the UK Carp record.

There was talk of a fish called the “King” in Redmire that weighed 70lb but no one ever caught it. I am not sure what carp are in Redmire at the moment but to my knowledge there is a possible 40lb carp. I will be happy to catch any fish at redmire to be honest. I was made aware of this magical lake when watching “A Passion for Angling” when I was 14 years old and have always dreamed of fishing this particular lake.

I plan to keep my rigs very simple similar to Chris Yate’s tatics e.g. 3 grains of sweetcorn on a size 8 hook with some lead shot to pin the line down.

I will be fishing 4 rods – 2 rods in right and left margins, one rod 20-30 yards out and one rod 15 yards out.

The map on the left was drawn by Chris Yates so I will be using this a reference when I go to Redmire. Willow pitch or Pitchfords would be a good spot if I can get it lets hope Isaac Walton and the carp gods are on my side.
